What Happened
The Minnesota Wild bounced back in commanding fashion on Saturday night, rattling off four unanswered goals to secure a 4-1 victory against the Boston Bruins at Grand Casino Arena.
Despite an early goal from Boston's Tanner Jeannot just 1:53 into the first period, the Wild regrouped after the intermission. Kirill Kaprizov sparked the comeback in the second period with a power-play one-timer off a feed from Maxim Shabanov.
Defenseman Quinn Hughes later capitalized on a 5-on-3 power play, blasting a shot through traffic to give Minnesota a 2-1 lead. Jared Spurgeon extended the advantage early in the third period with a wrist shot on the rush, before Kaprizov capped the night with an empty-net goal. Goaltender Jesper Wallstedt anchored the defense with 26 saves to improve the Wild to 2-0-0 on the young season.
Why It Matters
The matchup highlighted Minnesota's special teams execution, going 2-for-3 on the power play and shutting down all three Boston power-play opportunities.
For the Bruins, Michael DiPietro made 26 saves in his first NHL start since January 2022. While Boston head coach Marco Sturm praised the goaltender's performance, DiPietro took accountability for the team's first loss of the season. Boston played without defenseman Charlie McAvoy, who served the third game of his six-game suspension.

- Kirill Kaprizov: Extended his goal streak against the Bruins to five games. With 478 points in 399 career games, Kaprizov joins elite company alongside Connor McDavid, Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin, and Evgeni Malkin as the only active players to amass at least that many points before their 400th game.
