According to police and court reports, Mr Griffin sustained fatal injuries after hitting a goalpost while being towed on an unregistered quad bike.

A 20-year-old man, John William Ryan, has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, driving in a dangerous manner, and negligent driving occasioning death. He appeared in Wagga Wagga Local Court, where his bail was extended and the case was adjourned until November.

His coach of three years, Myles Aalbers, described him as one of the best and most determined footballers he had ever worked with.
