According to the IMD, a depression over southeastern Uttar Pradesh is currently tracking north-northwestward at a speed of roughly 12 kilometers per hour. While this weather system is expected to gradually weaken over the next several hours into a well-marked low-pressure area, its immediate impact remains intense.
Meteorologists note that eastern and central parts of the state, along with the central Terai region, face the highest risk of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall. Lucknow's Doppler weather radar is continuously tracking the system, while authorities have warned of potential flash floods in various catchment areas over the next 24 hours.

The severe weather has taken a heavy toll over the past 60 hours, with continuous downpours and high-velocity winds causing significant damage. Major cities, including Lucknow, Moradabad, and Gorakhpur, have reported severe waterlogging on arterial roads, with rainwater even breaching public facilities like district veterinary hospitals.
The relentless conditions have led to structural collapses and widespread damage to homes, particularly affecting low-lying residential areas and agricultural lands. State administration figures indicate that numerous houses have sustained structural damage, while local crop fields have also suffered losses due to water accumulation.
