For the first time in the exam's history, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) is publishing official answer keys alongside candidate response sheets for the NEET PG 2026. Over 2.65 lakh medical aspirants competing for MD, MS, and PG Diploma seats will now be able to cross-check their marked responses directly.

This major policy shift comes in response to a Supreme Court directive aimed at enhancing transparency in national post-MBBS medical evaluations.

What Happened

The main NEET PG 2026 examination took place on August 30. NBEMS also conducted a re-examination on September 5 for candidates who faced power-related disruptions at a test centre in Jaipur.

Under the new transparency guidelines, NBEMS will release complete question ID numbers, correct answers, candidate-selected options, and the specific score awarded for each item on the official portal at natboard.edu.in.

How Scoring and Percentiles Work

Aspirants looking to calculate their tentative scores before final rank lists are published must use the board's standard marking scheme:

  • Correct Answer: +4 marks
  • Incorrect Answer: -1 mark
  • Unanswered Questions: 0 marks

To calculate your preliminary score, apply the official formula:
Score = (Total Correct Answers × 4) - (Total Incorrect Answers × 1)

To qualify for postgraduate seat allocation, candidates must clear the required percentile benchmarks:

  • General / EWS: 50th percentile
  • General-PwD: 45th percentile
  • SC / ST / OBC: 40th percentile

If two or more candidates end up with identical scores, standardized tie-breaking criteria will determine their final merit position.

How to Access Your Answer Key

Once the portal link goes live, candidates can download their evaluation sheet directly through these steps:

  1. Visit natboard.edu.in.
  2. Access the NEET PG 2026 login portal.
  3. Submit your application number and password.
  4. Download and save the candidate response sheet along with the master answer key PDF.

What's Next

NBEMS will declare the official NEET PG 2026 results by September 30. The exam serves as the single entrance pathway for admissions across 86,360 post-graduate medical seats nationwide.

The resulting scores remain valid strictly for the 2026-27 academic session and cannot be carried forward to subsequent years, making these preliminary keys vital for candidates planning their upcoming counselling strategy.
