Under first-year offensive coordinator Kendal Briles, the Gamecocks have unleashed a devastating rushing attack. South Carolina currently leads the country in yards per carry (8.5) and ranks third nationally in rushing offense, averaging a massive 341.5 yards per game on the ground.
During their recent 45-9 victory over Towson, the Gamecocks racked up 416 rushing yards—the third-most in a single game in school history. Both running back Matthew Fuller (125 yards) and quarterback LaNorris Sellers (119 yards) eclipsed the 100-yard mark in the win. Historically, when Beamer's teams rush for over 200 yards, they boast an impressive 13-1 record.
Lockdown Defense and Special Teams Weapons
It is not just the offense making noise. Defensive coordinator Clayton White has turned the Gamecocks into an elite defensive unit. Through two games, South Carolina has allowed just a single touchdown.
