Apple has officially launched its next generation of Apple Intelligence, deploying a suite of highly integrated AI features across iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, and visionOS 27. Built on a privacy-first architecture, this update brings deep system-level enhancements to the devices millions of people use every day.
The Next Era of Apple Intelligence
The new foundation models powering Apple Intelligence were custom-built in collaboration with Google and its Gemini models. Deeply integrated into Apple's operating systems, these models allow for faster, more personalized daily workflows while keeping data security at the forefront.
Starting today, users with compatible devices can access powerful new tools designed to streamline navigation, creative workflows, and communication.
Siri AI: Faster, Smarter, and More Conversational
At the heart of this update is Siri AI—a completely reimagined, context-aware version of Apple’s virtual assistant.
- Better Conversations: Siri AI can now understand complex, multi-turn dialogue, pull context from your on-screen activity, and reference details from your emails, messages, and photos.
- System-Wide Actions: Siri can now perform direct actions inside third-party and native apps.
- Language Rollout: Siri AI launches today in English. A beta version supporting French, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese will begin rolling out in October, starting on Mac and Apple Vision Pro.
Core Features Coming to Your Screen
This update changes how key native apps function, offering practical automation and editing upgrades:
1. Advanced Photo and Image Editing
The Photos app introduces Spatial Reorientation, allowing you to change a photo's perspective after it has been taken—with AI seamlessly filling in the missing background. The Extend tool lets you expand image borders without cropping, while an upgraded Clean Up tool removes unwanted objects with higher realism. Notably, Apple is integrating Google’s SynthID standard to automatically identify and watermark AI-altered images.
2. A Smarter Safari Experience
Safari now automatically groups your open tabs by relevant topics as you browse. A new "Notify Me" feature monitors webpages for changes—such as price drops or restocks—and alerts you instantly. Additionally, users can build custom Safari extensions simply by describing what they want.
3. Smart Shortcuts and Communication
Creating system automations is now as simple as describing them out loud. The Shortcuts app can interpret descriptions to build complex routines for you. In the Phone app, a new Call Context feature securely identifies and displays on-device booking codes or confirmation numbers when you call businesses.
Strict Privacy Protocols
To support these advanced features, Apple is utilizing Private Cloud Compute. While many tasks run entirely on-device, complex queries are sent to secure servers. Apple guarantees that user data sent to the cloud is never stored or shared with anyone, including Apple itself. This privacy promise remains open to continuous, independent third-party verification.
