As Paris Saint-Germain returns to Ligue 1 action following the international break, manager Luis Enrique has turned heads with his latest squad selection. Sixteen-year-old goalkeeper Arthur Bar was brought in to train with the senior squad and earned a spot in the group ahead of PSG's Matchday 6 clash against Le Mans at the Parc des Princes.

What Happened

An unexpected window opened in PSG's squad following an injury to young goalkeeper Alessandro Longoni. With senior international players returning from duty and workload management top of mind, Enrique opted to promote Bar to the first-team environment to maintain depth behind senior goalkeepers like Matvey Safonov and Lucas Chevalier.

While Bar is unlikely to take the field immediately, stepping onto the bench for a senior Ligue 1 match marks a major step forward for the teenager.

Who Is Arthur Bar?

Born in Paris in January 2010, Barโ€™s journey to the top level is rooted in local football. He started at MMFC Paris in the 10th arrondissement before joining CO Vincennes in 2022. He moved to the PSG youth academy in the summer of 2024.

Despite his youth, Bar has already compiled strong achievements across Paris youth levels:

  • U17 Champion: Helped PSG capture the U17 French National Championship in June 2026, keeping a clean sheet in the 2โ€“0 final against Angers.
  • U19 Promotion: Played up an age class this season, featuring prominently in a 3โ€“3 draw against Le Havre with several key match-saving stops.
  • National Recognition: Earned a call-up to the France U16 national team training camp at Clairefontaine.

Why It Matters

Luis Enrique has consistently maintained a direct pipeline between the Campus PSG academy and the senior squad. Integrating teenagers into elite training environments aligns with the club's ongoing pivot toward developing homegrown French talent.

For Bar, training alongside world-class players provides invaluable high-level experience, signalling that PSG's management views him as a key figure in the club's long-term goalkeeping strategy.
